I am having mixed feelings about this

A part of me tells me not to let go, but the other is telling me to give up. Have I changed unknowingly? I really dont know. Perharps its really hard to care for a person without him feeling controlled or giving the right amount of 'trust' that he deserve. This is unreasonable and I'll have to compromise. And being independent or understanding seems like convenient words to use nowadays. Having dinner just once a week seems like such a tough thing to ask for, cos I'm competing with people that you get see to everyday. And it seems like I have to beg or kick up a fuss for you to stay. So I'm not doing that anymore, cos there isnt a need to. Why must I always be the bad guy? Why am I doing this? I dont know. We dont go out during weekends and going on dates seems difficult. I'm getting really bored. Getting used to something is really bad. Something is starting to bother me lately, I'm losing something that I'm really afraid of losing. Something that I thought was there a few months ago. Havent seen each other for an entire week seems like nothing now. What happen to the feeling of missing someone? It seems like its totally gone from my mind now. Perharps time can really do wonders, it can let you forget about someone easily. It is only late in the night when you're alone, few hours before your special day that you suddenly remembered him. You know that its impossible to see him right away, but a tiny little part of you is still hoping for that to happen. We have polar opposite characters and there is nothing we can do about it. It is suppose to complement us isnt it? We've been through this question several times "are you the right person for me?" I am having mixed feelings about this. I really dont know. So what is the answer for your limit of tolerance? The answer to me is infinite cos you're good at running away for things. And the limit of my tolerance? It has definitely gone up by several thousand folds and I'm still learning to keep in under control. I am having a love-hate relationship. Happy 23rd Birthday to me!

1st overseas trip with dear was pretty enjoyable and relaxing, totally recharged now and all ready for the hectic semester ahead. Good weather, peaceful and quiet island (we almost had the whole swimming pool and beach to ourselves since it is the off peak and monsoon season -> no sea sports) with excellent and very friendly service stuff. Dear was rather paranoid about the fact that there are hardly any people in the resort, mostly foreigeners from Japan, Korea and some old caucasian couples. But I actually kind of appreciate the privacy, quietness and slow pace life though as I am not exactly a huge fan of crowds, just slacking and lazing around not doing much and completely lost track of time. Major urban detox!!

Day 1: Explore Nirwana resort (Nirwana resort centre, Beach club, Kelong), played bowling and air rifle, visited Pasar Oleh Oleh in the evening.

Hello 2011! Randomly browsed through some of the old photos posted on facebook and kassyn's blog, some of which I have never seen before. Among them my favourites have to be the pictures took in Macau (1st overseas trip together), Taiwan and the 21st birthdays. Laughed dumbly to myself when I saw some of these cute pictures and captions, definitely brought back fond memories of the funny events that happened. I have a poor memory and photos are the best reminders of events of my life. Picked out some of my favourite shots, check them out!

Macau

First impromptu overseas trip together with besties to Macau, HK and borders of China (Zhuhai) with a very packed itinery. Bad experience on abroad Tiger airways (almost burnt my ass, as me and nic was suspected to be siting near the engine). Freaking cold weather especially during the night when we were "counting down" near the fisherman wharf with the huge golden lady stature, most "happening" place in Macau indeed and in the end we welcomed 2009 with the Taiwanese instead. Getting around Macau wasn't easy as all the streets are named Rua de xxx, but the city map was really useful can block the chilly wind somemore, just that following its directions caused us to walk non-stop for hours till we reach a hospital. Some of the all time classic places that we visited includes Venetian, Red market and San deng jie in search for the lost mysterious Agnes B shop. They have a fantastic airport except the food served their had some extra special ingredient that tasted and smell like ammonia. Ageing is clearly seen in the Macau population especially in the morning at their cafes.

Shopping at Zhuhai was fun, everything is affordable and there is a wide range of stuff available there, also got "shui huo". Tried their highly recommended ma la steamboat and ended up really disgusted by the meatballs, the the scraping of the dried chilli stuck to the pot and the amount of chilli oil in it, totally horrific experience. Lesson learnt: Don't ever tried the local's tastebuds.

Hong Kong was fun, with lots of shopping outlets at tung chung, lady's street and my favourite xu liu shan with yummy mango desserts. Getting around HK is easy with the MTR.

Taiwan

We somehow got addicted to travelling and went on our 2nd trip to Taipei half a year later. Visiting places like Ximending, Shilin nightmarket (lots of bubble tea, Aiyu and jipa), fisherman wharf (Yu ren ma tou) where they had total defence practise where everyone had to stay indoors and the place where I got my wierd tan lines, Jiu fen, taipei 101 (aka beijing 101.. lol), memorial hall where we suddenly started singing theresa tang songs.

Its been a while since we all travelled together. Guys, time for some Kimchi and K-pop music.. Lets go ....But before that off to Bintan for 3 days 2 night (18-20 Jan) with CL before school reopen, final semester in NTU.. Yippy!! Please god bless us with good weather.

Post Shanghai blues.. Part 1(Work)

Its been exactly a month since I've returned from Shanghai (12 July 2010) and now I'm actually beginning to miss China having spent 7 whole months there travelling, studying and working. The experience is indeed priceless and memorable for me, adding something special to my bland university life, having only joined Insinyur and being CCAless for the past 3 years in NTU. I would love to say that I have unknowingly changed and that I'm beginning to understand myself better. I can actually be very independent, confident and brave, and a strong side of me that I have been hidden inside me for the past 22years. But I have also discovered another side of me, the weak and emotional side, which in some way freak myself out.Recalling the 1st few weeks in Shanghai where everything seems so foreign and scary, having to brave through the freaking cold weather (-2 deg cel), huge crowd of rowdy people and trying to navigate our way using road signs written in Chinese. (At work)

My company being strategically located at one of the busiest business distrinct at Golden Bell Plaza ( 大世界，黄埔区)in Shanghai, made my journey to work a tough but fun one, having to squeeze and battle the morning office crowd. Every morning there will be drama on the metro, with people quarrelling, faces being squash ( v funny expression on their faces, as though they are in pain), people being "kiap" by the door and those that still push their way into the train despite it being filled to the brim (China people can be compressed), sometimes its so full that even when the train brakes suddenly you wont even jerk or fall to one side,without even holding on to anything in the first place (defying inertia). Taking a bus 581 to work can be an enjoyable experience also as I can enjoy the nice scenery from the Nanpu bridge, while listening to the songs from my ipod. Whenever I get caught in a traffic jam, I'll have my own personal time when I'll start thinking about alot of stuff, my family, my friends and everything nice in Singapore.

I was given lots of opportunities by my boss as compared to the other local interns in AL. Being able to learn and work with other regional Marcom personnel, participate in global events like the World Expo (Swedish Pavilion) and being involved in the planning of the annual National Meeting for AL was indeed an eye opening experience for me. I have learnt technical stuff like web designing, maintenance, use of other communication and marketing tools, practised public speaking and presentation skills and other important soft skills like teamwork, responsibility etc.

The only disappointed and sad moment that I had in AL was the time when my boss broke to me the news that I had to be stationed in the office alone to provide assistance and oversee other matters, and the excuse given by my boss was that AL had better internet connection which is needed for the duty I was assigned to which is the mass sending of SMS to remind our clients regarding their registered seminar schedule. Felt really devastated and down for the next few days, as I have put in lots of effort and hardwork for this project, since the beginning of this project (attended web training session via video conference during the chinese new year holiday, with only me and Apple left alone in the whole company), followed by me pieceing the whole webcampaign site together, updating it daily with the latest information, to the final lap which ended with long working hours and OT for several nights. I could still recall the times when me and my colleagues admire the breath taking night view with all the buildings lighted up by the colourful LED neon lights, overseeing Shanghai Times Square, Infinite mall, Shanghai concert hall etc. from our desks. Really miss having lunch with my colleagues trying out all the different cuisine in Shanghai, strolling and htht sessions at parks after lunch and shopping at the baazar (level 6 of shanghai times square) having different sales ranging from clothes to imported food items etc.

Really glad and fortunate to have JK and Kas as my housemates, hearing me pour my sorrows and encouraging me during my sad times. My happiest moment in AL was definitely the last day of our event(30 June), where my boss gave me an expo day pass to visit the VIP section of the Swedish pavilion where all our seminars and products are exhibited and even enjoy the Happy hour session at the glass rooftop terrace at night.

Asian Communications Training Program

Attended the annually Asian communication training program last week from 16th to 18th March 2010. Shanghai was the host country this year, welcoming colleagues from Asia. We have Neeru Pant(India), Miyoung Yoo(Korea), Naomi Shimura(Japan), Christine Phu(Taiwan), Julie Yeo(Singapore), Zoe Zhou, Apple Zhou, Ann Guo and myself(China, Shanghai), Annika Mansson(Sweden) and lastly Maren Rose(Germany).

Day 1
Was assigned the task to pick up my colleagues from Fraser Residence Shanghai which was a 5 mins walk from my office. Went to work v early that morning, reached office at around 8 am to leave my stuff at my seat before heading down to pick them up. Felt really excited and a little lost initially as it was my 1st time meeting these people and I don’t have the slightest clue how they look like, the only info I had was their name and the country they are from. Sat at the lobby of the posh hotel alone trying my best to look out for them. To my relief, after 10 mins of wait I notice someone familiar and that was Julie from SINGAPORE!! We started chatting happily while waiting for the rest, it really feels great meeting someone from sg after 3 months in sh. Julie was a v outspoken and experienced (35years) stuff (human resource manager) in Alfa Laval SG, with her around I felt quite relieved. Managed to pick up Naomi and Christine from the hotel too.

Day 1 began with self introduction for the new comer in the communications team where everyone had to talk more about ourselves and share our experience. The day continued with Maren Rose the Corporate Communications Manager(Central) and Ann Guo Corporate Communications Manager(Asia) giving us talks on overview of the communication organization, The Alfa Laval Brand, MARCOM and Regional Communication Handshakes, Policies and ROComs, Press release and HERE magazine (our company magazine), internal communication, Asian Communication Council Processes and Targets and World Expo. Had group lunch at 河河亭 a posh Japanese teppanyaki restaurant at Shanghai Times Square. Miyoung, Neeru and Annika arrived in sh around evening to join us for a group dinner at 花马天堂 a Yunnan, Thai fusion restaurant which serves v delicious food, the ambience there was great too ( didn’t managed to take a picture of it, too paiseh to do so later people thought I sua ku..lol). Julie took great care of me, keep serving me food fearing them I could not reach them as I was seated at the far end of the long table. Sent Miyoung, Neeru and Julie back to their hotel before heading home tt night. Everyone was sharing their personal experience on the different countries they’ve travelled tt night on our way back. Felt really proud to be a Singaporean then, as Miyoung n Neeru enjoyed sg v much both of them were full of praises for sg. Miyoung visited sg during her honeymoon period 10+ years ago as she had an uncle working in sg. Neeru visited sg not long ago on a holiday trip with her family to sg and Malaysia.

Day 2 web training sessions begun, the training was conducted by Annika Mansson, web communications trainer(central). Had a fun time learning with the rest, these aunties are really damn funny especially when there com got problem, was trying v hard not to laugh at them most of the time. Had lunch at 翡翠( Crystal Jade restaurant) at Hong Kong Plaza before proceeding to the visit the World Expo exhibition which acts like a preview before the actual commencement on 1st May. Julie left for sg after lunch, as in terms of the web context, it is not really applicable for a small market like sg. Was assigned to bring Naomi around the exhibition. Naomi is a v talented and interesting lady who knows several language (English, Japanese, Chinese, French), she studied wine making in France, learned Chinese in Beijing and worked in a Japanese firm in sg before. Day 2 was a free night for everyone. Volunteered to bring Miyoung and Neeru around for some shopping near their hotel. Neeru bought a few tops from ZARA for her 19 yr old daughter but couldn’t find the latest G-Shock watch for her 23 yr old son. Miyoung bought 2 kg worth of 美珍香 bbq pork and beef for her 2 daughters (11, 13 yrs old), she even gave me her membership card as it can only be used in China. 美珍香 is a quite a popular brand in Shanghai for their bbq meat and pork floss biscuits, but most people actually mistook it for being a china brand rather then sg. The ladies were here in Shanghai in 2007 for another meeting and they can still vaguely remember the hotel they stayed at, near Hong Kong plaza. Had a simple dinner of xiao long baos and la mian with them before sending them back to their hotels. Had a nice long chat with them during dinner, we talked about marriage, having kids, education system and the youngster of my age in our countries, come to realize that our cultures are pretty different even though we are all Asian countries.

Day 3 web training session continued with handson exercises. Had takeaway lunch from 新元素(element fresh) at the meeting room together with my colleagues. Christine was a v elegant, gentle, soft spoken lady from Taiwan who has a 12 yr old daughter. As we all know, Taiwan is famous for its drama politics, variety shows, music and night markets, Christine was really nice to share these info with us. Went to a v nice Chinese restaurant with superb view of 外滩(the bund) where we could see 东方明珠 and 黄浦江 tt night for dinner. Among all the dishes served, I enjoyed the lobster the most, the foie gras was quite special too. We had a nice long chat while waiting for the food to arrive, talking about how working mums balance work with family, problems faced, different countries travelled, different cultures in their countries etc. We also had a nice laugh at Annika and Maren who tried using chopsticks to pick up their food, while Neeru requested for a fork immediately having known tt Chinese food will be served. Annika took our pictures with her v pro Nikon camera. Bidded everyone farewell tt night after dinner, really enjoyed myself a lot for the past 3 days, the company was definitely awesome. Headed back home in a 8 seater car with my boss, Ann who also stays near 大拇指广场 in PuDong while the rest headed back to their hotels in PuXi.

1st month in Shanghai

Time flies today official marks my first month working and staying in Shanghai.. Weather's been v cold lately, with wind speed at 16km/hr (can feel it sweeping me away a little) and temperature falling to 1 to 2 degrees C, yesterday kas, jk and dn even experienced slight snow or mayb v tiny ice cube at their work place.. Had reunion dinner with the whole wan bang estate gang (24 people) yesterday, booked 2 tables at a cantonese restaurant near our place. For the first time in our lives, we played firecrackers and fireworks (and its completely legal).. The experience was awesome and breath taking.. Jk, dn and I combines 3 big firecrackers together and lit it up, creating the largest boomz last night.. The mini firework display was also v nice, everyone was busy filming down the whole process, never once did I see a firework display so upclose, it was definitely a memorable night. Shanghai is like ghost town recently, everyone is busy returning to their hometown to spend their 1 week long cny holiday.

Kas, Jk, Dn and I will be visiting beijing during our cny holidays, Cl, Xs, Ly will be joining us from suzhou. This is by far our longest break from work (so far only visited suzhou), before school starts in March. Beijing is pretty far from Shanghai (10+ hours), we'll be taking dong che there. We'll be satying over at Dn's sister apartment in Beijing. Looking forward to snowskiing, climbing of great wall and the other attractions over there..Our return ride should be a more comfortable one as it is double the price, we'll be having a cabin of our own, there will be 2 double deck beds installed in it and seems like we will have our own personal mini tv and earphones too..

Today is the last working day before the cny holidays and we're suppose to end work 3pm.. But I've a web training session for work expo, the training will be conducted through net meeting from 3pm till 6pm.. omg.. how sucky is that.. I'm gonna kill the angmoh trainer now.. roar!! (just kidding)

Goodbye Singapore.. Hello Shanghai

In a few hours time I'll be leaving Singapore on a 1.15am flight to Shanghai for a 6 months long Global Immersion Programme. This is the 3rd time I'll be going abroad without my parents and sisters by my side, the first 2 trips was with besties to Macau and Taiwan. This would be by far the longest period of time I'll spend away from my family and friends. Under this GIP, we will be studying on the Chinese culture and economics in Shanghai Jiaotong University for 1 1/2 days weekly for 13 weeks and we'll be working for 4 days for 22 weeks as part of our industrial attachment component, the rest of the long holidays will be spent travelling to different states of China. Hopefully through this trip I'll be a more independent, streetwise and matured person. I'm definitely going to miss my family, friends, favourite food, Singaporean slang, efficient transport system, the sunny hot weather etc. Farewell guys, take care!!

Christmas..2009

Christmas was pretty different and quiet for me this year, without besties around. But still I had a great time spending both Xmas eve and Xmas with CL. On Xmas eve, we went shopping for winter wear at winter times where CL bought a couple of long johns for himself and a pair of leather gloves and a knitted winter hat for me. We had a great time trying on the jackets, gloves and hats before proceeding to parkway parade shopping centre for dinner at Delifrance bistro. Dinner @ delifrance was pretty horrible for me, don't ever try their pasta, very bland and dry. After dinner we continued shopping around parkway and I managed buy a huge 28 inch lugguage for my upcoming shanghai trip. Dad teased me when he saw me dragged home that huge lugguage, saying that I look as though I am planning to migrate to shanghai.

On Xmas, CL and I went somewhere special, away from the crowded malls. We went marina @keppel bay, a quiet and beautiful place where all the yacht are parked there. We went tcc for dinner, dinner was great even though the tcc outlet there was freaking small.

After dinner, we went to jewel box at mount faber for the "snow" show.

Omfg! I finally gotten my class 3 driving license today after taking 38 lessons in total. I'm such a slow learner when it comes to driving, its my 3rd attempt at this. Pretty relax and secretive about this as I didnt want anybody to know about this, didnt want anybody to have high expectations on me. It makes me really nervous and worried when people pin high hopes on me and letting them down repeatedly really makes me feel bad. So my plan was to self fund my driving lessons and not tell anyone about it unless I passed.

Getting my driving licence is perhaps the best thing that happened to me lately. I was telling Kas yesterday on our way to NTU for the GIP sending off ceremony that my family has been really down on luck recently. I dont know whether if its a coincidence or what that my air-con, microwave oven, telephone, refrigerator all malfunction around the same time. The latest addition to my long list of faulty items was my mobile phone, now I cant make any phone calls, can only sms. The most irritating thing is my phone is no longer under warranty, its just a few days away from that 1 year warranty period and now I have to pay $100+ just to get it repaired wtf right.. But like what Kas said, things normally change for the better after all the bad things have happened. So meanwhile, wish me luck:)

Went out with Marc and Kas the other day for some shopping and catching up session at town. Our day started off with helping Kas out with some job she had at starhub, it was a long wait at starhub even during lunch hours, don't these office workers have to work? Went to shop shop at 313@somerset the Zara there was huge la, think they have the nicest winter wear in sg especially there coats. Kas was pretty disgusted by the most expensive grey fur coat that cost $1000+, she didnt like the feeling of wearing an "animal" on her. Marc recommended us this Jap ramen stall which serves damn yummilicious authentic Jap food at a very reasonable prices, the beef udon I had that day was superb.

Proceeded to slack at starbucks, tried out there christmas drink Dark Cherry Mocha Frappuccino. We ended our day with a fun night out at Zouk, meeting new people (Marc's JC friends and some other random people and the dance floor). Great performance, great music, great company and great booze!

Goodbye granny

I officially declare Nov 09 the worse period of my life. Not only was November a stressful month filled with consecutive quizzes and exams, it was also the period where my granny was hospitalised. Grams was a independent and strong woman, who raised my mum almost single-handedly as my grandpa was away most of the time working on big ships. She was always the first person to welcome me home everyday, sitting at her fave spot by the bedside asking me how was my day and even in the wee hours at night she would never fail to pop by my study room rushing me to sleep earlier. Grams stayed with us ever since I was borned, practically spent all of my time with her as a kid, probably even more then my parents as both of them are working. When I was kid, I would throw my toys, stop whatever I was doing and run at full speed to hug grams whenever I hear thunder. My supposedly first overseas trip to HK was ruined cos I could not bear to go anywhere without Grams by my side, in the end, Dad, mum and da jie went without me. Grams was the one to prepare our daily meals and do the household chores.

Grams had always lead a healthy lifestyle, eating only boiled or steam food. Despite her age, she did not had any long term chronic disease like high blood pressure, diabetes etc. But one day, she fell down and landed on her butt, fortunately she did not fracture any bones. Instead, somehow the doctor diagnose her with urinary tract infection, she could no longer control her bladder and had to put on diapers. She stayed at Changi Hospital for a week, her appetite was poor and her mood was bad. Eventually she could no longer eat any food and had to be put on drip, the doctors gave her anti-depressant thinking that she might be suffering from depression. She felt that she could not communicate with the doctors as nobody could understand her dialect.

Tragedy strikes when she started having fits and had to be sent immediately to Tan Tock Seng hospital. They found the main vein connecting the brain to the rest of the body being clot up, blood thinning medication was fed to her hoping that it might help remove the clot. But instead it caused more complications as her blood became too thin resulting in internal bleeding at the brain. She had a stroke and was paralysed on the right side of her body, her arms was badly bruised with all blood test done on her. Everyone in the family went down to visit grams at the ICU, everyone cried as the doctor was afraid that she might not pull through. We were suppose to decide whether if we wanted the doctor to operate on her to remove the blood clot, which include removing a portion of her brain where the blood clot was pressing on. We opted against it as it was a very dangerous operation for an old lady to bear, and changes of recovery was minimal.

Things somewhat changed for the better when the doctor said that her condition has stabilised and could be discharged soon. Went to visit her on the 5th Dec the day right after my last paper bought all the necessary stuff in preparation of her return on the 7th Dec. Her condition was no good, they had to increase her oxygen concentration to the max as she could not breathe on her own and was gasping for air. We stayed by her side and only returned home to take a shower at around 11.30pm. The next moment the doctor called and informed us that grams had already passed away at 12.52am. She hanged on and waited for all her nephews and my family to visit her for the final time that day in the evening before passing away peacefully. Everyone rushed down to see her for the last time, I held her hand it was icy cold.

Her case was rather complex as the doctors was uncertain of her cause of death thinking that it has something to do with the blood thinning medicine overdose. Thus, we could not claim her body that night and can only do so the next morning at HSA at Singapore General Hospital. Grams death certificate bears my signature as I was the one who tell the police what exactly happened to her from what I know. I could not stop crying when I had to identify my grams body when they pushed her out from the mortuary. In the end they concluded her death cause to be stroke. The funeral lasted for 3 days. On the last night before cremation the following morning, after sending off my friends off at around 4am, I went to sleep on the straw mat beside grams coffin. That was the last time I had her by my side.

I did not know I was such an emotional person and that losing someone so close to your heart could be that painful. Flashes of memory kept flashing through my mind these days, think it will take quite a while for all these to fade away. Grams should be at a place where there is no pain or sufferings, a place where she can watch over us and be with grandpa. Special thanks to those that came down to pay their respect, really appreciated it thanks for being there for me when I needed someone by my side.

September, a month filled with birthday celebrations

September was definitely a busy month, packed with lots of quizzes, normal school work and having to attend at least 1 21st birthday celebration on every weekend, going to almost every single chalet in the east. But despite doing almost the same stuff at every party and being quite broke for the month, I truly enjoyed every single one of them, especially Huiyan's slumber party(where I drank 5 cups of milk..bbburpp) and Kas's retro theme party( where besties n I sang our 1st Chinese song together, Tian mi mi). I was looking through all the birthday pics and I have come to realize that every single birthday girl is exceptionally pretty, having the sweetest smile at their party.

5) Kas's Retro party (27th Sept, Day, Tampines Safra Cao Yuan)

And that marks the end of September's long birthday party marathon. Nitez.

A project I did recently

I did a project on the lives of Karung guni recently for a solid waste management module. This is by far the most interesting project I've ever done. In this project we are suppose to find out the contributions, roles of Karung guni in our present society and devise ways to help them improve their lifestyle. Not only have i visited places that I've never been to, such as sungei road where the thieves market and large warehouses filled with 2nd hand electronic devices are located. The people selling their old and unwanted stuffs (practically everything, ranging from soft toys to chargers for all handphone models and lots of vintage products such as casette tapes, radios) are mostly retirees, trying to make a living on their own.

I have also visited tuas for the 1st time, we visited tuas marine transfer station(place where waste are deposited first before sending them over to semakau landfill via huge barges) and tuas south incineration plant where we get to see how the plant actually operates, checking out the different machines they use to control the optimum conditions needed to incinerate these waste.

For this project, we made a "channel 8 variety programme, Paris and Milan" inspired video for our presentation. This is my 1st attempt at acting and I totally sucked at it. LOL. We had lots of fun preparing this video, writing our scripts, filming for each other and preparing our own settings and props. Introducing to you my great actors and actresses: Top row-> Yixin as the studious Milan, Ivan as funny Tourist, Wee Lin as bimbotic Paris. Bottom row-> Wei Min as the greedy "Garung guni" and Yong Yi as kpo aunty lucy.

Largest OG outing ever (KFC, GOG, BOA)

Went out with KFC, GOG and BOA last Friday for a dinner gathering, was surprised by the number of people who came (30 plus people turn up), this got to be by far the most successful OG outing. Proceeded to Manhattan fish market@central for dinner and headed to Brewerks for drinks. Much time was wasted just to get enough seats to accommodate us. We had towers cold steam and golden alps beer and played finger guessing games that night, but luckily no one was drunk.

Kelly and Shiling will be leaving for their maritime exchange trip to Norway tomorrow. Take care girls! See ya soon on 1st Jan 2010.

Nautical theme parties

This entry is way overdued, but I thought I should still blog about them. I've attended 2 nautical theme parties recently beginning with Hwee Jun's on the 27th June at costa sands sentosa and Meimei's from 10th to 13th July at the aranda country club. Hwee Jun's party was a joint celebration with her sec school friend Zhi Xiu and since HweeJun's favourite colour is blue while Zhi Xiu favourite colour is white therefore they had a blue and white theme party. lol. I had to rush home that night right after the cake cutting session as I was leaving for Taiwan the very next day on a 8.35am flight. Even though we were the only few JC representative that attended HweeJun's party, it was fun catching up with them and with Reubens cracking up some lame jokes (Ba zhang). lol.

Next up is Mei's 21st party where we camped at aranda country club for 4 whole days helping out with the preparations, entertaining her guests, play mahjong, went wild wild wet and watched transformers. Mei was rather busy that actual party night, so we only managed to take a few pics with her. Boo. I seriously really can't stand the ugly and uneven tan lines on my arms and chest that I got from Taiwan, really look as though I'm wearing another top. Boo.

2 great movies

'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' and 'Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince' are definitely 2 most anticipated movie this year. Having watched the first transformers movie 2 years ago and I was totally impressed with the graphics, actions and special effects. No doubt there are several new additions to the movie, making the fighting scenes between the sworn enemies more exciting but too much of this actually made the movie confusing especially the final scene at Egypt, I couldn't really tell the Transformers from the Decepticons. The build up of the story was rather slow and draggy, causing it to be rather boring in the beginning. But the mind blowing action, heart warming love scene (between Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox) and occasional humors definitely made up for its weak plot. A movie worth watching, I'll give it 3/5.

Next up, would be my all time favourite movie the 6th addition to the Harry Potter series and I was one of the lucky few people who can catch it on its debut date 16th July. As usual the movie was slightly different from the novel, cant really expect the whole story to be told word for word in 154 mins right? On top of the usual magic fighting scenes, lots of romantic and hilarious scenes are added making the movie more interesting. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead with Draco Malfoy joining and carrying out orders of Lord Voldemort allowing the death eaters to enter Hogwarts. Draco cannot bring himself to kill the headmaster, even with the urging of fellow Death Eaters once they arrive. Snape (Half Blood Prince) arrives and kills Dumbledore, who was previously weakened after drinking the mysterious potion and battling Inferi during his pursue of the Horcrux. The scene when Dumbledore fell off the astronomy tower after being zapped by Snape's wand and the students and teachers gathering around Dumbledore's dead body with their lighted wand during his funeral was indeed the most saddening part of the entire movie. The ending was rather abrupt, but despite all that, this movie is a definite much watch 4/5.

PC show 11th-14th june

This is my second time working at the PC show, last year I was posted to sell hp laser printer together with my small sis. This time round fortunately, I was posted to lenovo together with kassyn. I was rather reluctant having to sell laptops and desktops initially as I know nothing much about IT products. But seems like I have managed to smoke through product introduction quite well, sales was surprisingly good, at least it was much better than what I have expected. Thank god for our strategic location and good promotions, we managed to emerge top sellers among the other resellers from harvey norman, courts etc. Had great fun working with all the part-timers, despite having to stand almost 12 hours daily (could hardly feel the existence of my little toe when I reach home) and talk really loudly non-stop.

Point to note : If you are planning to get some great deals from the IT fair, come only on the 3rd day (Saturday) afternoon, as prices are normally slashed and more freebies are thrown in. And on top of that, there are still sufficient stocks available and enough time for you to compare prices. Don't bother coming on the last day last hour thinking that you will get the best deal, as you might end up buying the display set without you even knowing.

1 day trip to JB

Went to JB with kratos for a short weekend getaway recently, getting there was a chore as travel conditions on sunday was terrible. We were caught in a ridiculously long jam for about an hour plus and we had to stand in the super packed sbs bus with people pluking in their plastic bags as the air con was barely cold and the bus was inching forward and stopping constantly. Upon arrival at the new customs, everyone hopped off the bus excitedly as we were all hungry and perspiring like crazy. As it was a short 1 day trip, we did not have much time to travel or explore JB. So we only went to city square shopping centre which is just beside the customs, had our lunch at secret receipe and proceed to shop around after that. The food at secret receipe was average, but their cheesecakes are v good and cheap. Our initial plan was to shop, sing kbox and probably catch a movie at JB and end our day with a nice spread of cheap and fresh seafood feast. But due to time constraint, we only did some brief shopping (manage to grab a pair of shoes and a t-shirt from F.O.S) and had seafood for dinner at da man hua yuan which requires approximately 10 mins to get there by cab. Getting back to singapore was much faster and comfortable without the traffic jam. Miss Ting loves travelling!!

Kratos and CL went to Bintan yesterday for a short relaxing trip and they'll only be back on tomorrow afternoon. BOOHOOHOO.

Happy birthday May babies

May is a special month full of celebrations. First up we have Jacq's 21st birthday on 9th May, followed by Nic's 21st on 19th May. For jacq's birthday, the activities lined up include 1)a well planned surprise at her home(midnight), 2)visit to woodlands big fish market( cos nic had to buy some fresh seafood for her mother's day celebration the next day), 3)cake designing at icing room JP which was not successful as the cake designing queue was too freaking long, 4)starbucks, 5) delicious steamboat and xiao long bao buffet dinner at Holland village Crystal Jade, 6) chill out session at Meritus Mandarin observation lounge

Activites lined up for nic's birthday was 1) a screwed up surprise at her place, 2) a whole day out at the botanical garden where we had a cute picnic, played frisbee and a strolled around the park. We had so much fun playing frisbee, despite being in the wrong attire. 3) dinner at ichiban boshi at esplanade. 4) ice cream at kallang mac.

Cycling at ECP

Cycling has always been one of my favourite exercise, it is fun, relaxing and I can enjoy the nice scenery and cool sea breeze all at the same time. CL and I went cycling a few days ago, we cycled from ECP to changi hawker centre (damn freaking far la). Spent 4 hrs cycling to and fro, taking only a few breaks at the sailing club, bedok jetty and changi hawker centre respectively.

Yay! Ive finally finished my exams 2 days ago, surviving the endless mugging sessions till late at night, and feeling real guilty when I doze off unknowingly or stared at a particular lecture slide for the past hour and feel that nothing has really gone in. To add on, the hunger pangs that haunt me almost every night caused me to put on a some weight, cant wait to shed them off! It has only been 2 days into my long 3 months vacation, but I'm kinda bored already! Slacking at home is pretty boring, probably because there isnt much people to go out with since most of them are still having their exams.

Just some random experience I had while taking the train to school. As you all know NTU is pretty far, in fact very far away from my home, such that I spent an hour on the train everyday. I get to meet many different people on the train, some irritating and some really funny ones. First up, the irritating ones (1) People falling into really deep sleep such that despite poking him several times on the arm, his head still continued to fall on your shoulder (probably he is in a comatose state or had a concussion). (2) Irritating kids that have amazingly strong legs who cannot keep their legs to themselves just cant stop kicking you, dirtying your jeans in the process. (3) People shouting loudly into their phones and those that uses their speaker and portable radio on the train such that everyone can hear them.

Top picks for hilarious moments on the train include (1) Bringing your own foldable chair instead of competing with the rest for a seat on the train. (2) 8 full grown adults which include 7 big sized males and a woman squeezing into a a row of sets meant for 7( you can't actually tell the difference until you start counting them, and trying hard not to laugh especially when you are just seated opposite them). (3) Wierd people, there's this havoc aunty that I have on saw painted her nails in bright aqua blue, even though most of her toe nails are left with only half, she still bother painting that little pathetic half nail blue.

Its been a freaking long month since I had blog, been really busy with exam and test preparation, driving, lab reports etc. Today, I have officially turned 21, meaning that I'm a full grown-up adult now. I've always thought that I am a lucky girl, being born on such a special day (April Fool Day), where most of my friends can easily remember this date even though this prank playing day is not widely celebrated by us. My life have been rather smooth sailing for the past 20 years, with great and fantastic people around me who truly care and love me. Thanks for all the birthday wishes, presents and cards. Miss Ting has been real busy nowadays, rushing from school to home and back again having only less than 6 hrs of sleep for the past couple of weeks. Having 5 consecutive tests is really no joke, but I'm glad it has finally come to an end, for now at least. Better pen down the recent events that took place when the memory is still fresh in my mind.

Yup, Ive participated in this year's chingay parade yet again for my 3rd year with Kratos and Golum og, but this year as a crowd control officer (which is damn bo liao, but had to do it as it I had to do canvassing for the INSINYUR camp, the only gd thing is that I get to do nothing and watch the parade at a up close view.) My previous years involvement was to be a motivator which is equally bo liao, the first one was in 2005 under SRJC with cosmo og and in 2006 under TPJC with 05s23 as part of our CIP. Favourite float this year : Draconika by NTU.

Next up will be the CNY lo hei gathering at daxiong's house at Jurong West, on 6th Feb. We had a potluck dinner, lohei, played blackjack, "in between" and mahjong. A pity some of us (those staying in the east and north) had to leave early to catch the last train home.

Xiao Yuan Yan Chang Hui

Went for my 2nd campus concert yesterday with some Kratos and Gollum people organised by Ntu's cultural activities club. Genie 卓文萱was the performing artiste and Ding Zhi Yong from 933fm was the emcee of the event. The event was delayed due to the overwhelming responds from the students, LKC lt was packed to the brim. Many students, even those with tickets had to sit on the ales and stairs of the lt and this prevented Genie Zhuo from coming up to the upper portion of the lt to interact with the crowd(shake hands and take pic). Besides singing a few songs from her new album "超级喜欢 " she also sang some of her other 主打歌 from her previous albums. During the interacting sessions, we had to sing her a Happy Birthday song since its her birthday in a few days time. 3 lucky guys were invited on stage to sing a duet with her(梁山伯与茱丽叶). The event ended off with an autograph and photo taking session. After which we went to hall2 to eat our dinner and Su San sent us home after that.

Overall impression of Genie Zhuo : Very friendly, cheerful, sweet, able to handle huge crowds well(in terms of interaction), humorous, quite pretty and petite but makeup abit thick.

Looking forward to the next concert, but the queuing time really sucks (lucky I didnt had to queue for both 郭静 and 卓文萱 concert) haha , wonder if S.H.E will actually come for such campus concerts to promote their new album but with their current popularity level doubt they will be coming. If they ever come for such concerts, think CAC will have to change the event location to Nanyang Auditorium instead.

Xmas's round the corner and my bedroom is filled with lots of prezzies, wrapping paper, ribbons and little gift cards. Its that time of the year again when my cupboard will be blocked by my dajie's gifts for her colleagues. This year she bought cute coasters, handphone accessories, pens, hand creams, travel pack shower gels etc. and mind you she buys them in rather large quantities (especially all those cute, little bear hp accessories, for those not so close colleagues). Thus, she needed some help with the gift wrapping so we converted our study room to a temporary gift wrapping station and I helped out too. Having learnt some basic gift wrapping skills while working part time at dfs a few years back, I think i must have been of great help today :) Think takashimaya had nicer wrapping paper last year, still prefer the dark purple with gold prints(more classy) as compared to this year's design which baby blue and white with teddy bears printed on it. Isetan's was the worse of them all bright red, with ugly old Santa printed across it *yucks*

Macau trip's itinerary is up, that is the first draft which we came up with after long hours of research and planning at kas's house after our 3 hrs long badminton session on Thursday. Dad is still pretty concern about me going on a trip without them, so he told me to ring up the insurance company today to buy travel insurance before my trip, and the company even provided a SOS number which I can call in case of emergency or if anything bad happen during the trip *choy* *touch wood*.

Omg. I can't believe it finally ive managed to create a new blog for myself. Testing testing hopefully this works.. Recently everyone around me is going overseas, flying here and there.. Jacq (south africa), Amelia (Japan), Yixin ( Japan), Mei (M'sia and Taiwan) and Nic.. Quiet and boring holiday without them around, but I cant wait for everyone to be back to share with me their fabulous holiday experience. Esp YX and mei who will be spending their X'mas abroad with the japanese and taiwanese. Meanwhile, I shall just occupy myself with my intensive driving lessons, circling ubi driving centre like nobody's business (mr yeo's 萬里長城) and making countless u turns and reversing in both directions in some ulu carpark. And for those who frequent these areas mentioned above, plz stay away from a white, silverish mitsubishi lancer EU1999 especially when you see the cute miss ting inside. Miss ting > road hazard (for now only, think shes getting better)

Went to marina barrage yesterday after driving, with CL. Quite an eye opening experience, superb view especially when you are standing on top of the NTU ADM look alike structure where you can actually see the Singapore flyer, esplanade, various hotels and the partially completed IR. Within the huge building there are also galleries showing models of the barrage and educating the public how the whole thing actually works with the pumps, dams and generators. Too bad kas's "tua leng gong" not around if not can take lots of nice nice pics, only managed to take a few pics with my pathetic 3.2 megapixel hp.
